An Update on The Mess I'm In
I’ve been painting tonight after a two week hiatus. I’m now keeping my four-year-old every day instead of taking him to daycare, and I’m more tired now than I was when I was going into work every day. I’m glad I actually felt up to painting tonight.
The figure in The Mess I’m In began in blue, but I’ve been working on altering her skin color after two friends remarked, “Oh, it’s the woman from Avatar.” 😑 Their comments made me cringe, but I think I actually like the direction it’s going in now. What do you think?
Here is my last update on the piece (while the blue skin was still with us):

So beautiful. I love her hair, how there’s a rainbow in it. The colours and textures and there’s something very peaceful :)
Both versions are beautiful. The new version is more refined and balanced, a calm, warm lookout, but I really liked the first one too, there was a threshold there between the fiery light behind her and the cold light on her face, that threshold DID things. So sorry you felt the need to “unavatarize” your painting. No loss, truly, but each version is saying different stories. 🤗
